ONE YEAR COMPLETE
HEBBRONVILLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Barraz Genesis proudly celebrates the one-year milestone of our partnership with Hebbronville Elementary School, a town that deeply inspired our mission. In this short time, we have made significant strides in promoting literacy by implementing tailored programs for K4 to 2nd-grade students, distributing 450 books, and hosting engaging monthly literacy events for families. Additionally, our commitment to community support has extended beyond education, as we raised funds to provide essential clothing items for nearly 40 families in Hebbronville, including five uniform shirts, five pairs of jeans, and one pair of new shoes each. This partnership exemplifies our dedication to making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families in Hebbronville and beyond.
Sylvia Barraz Memorial Golf Tournament
On June 24, 2023, in Mission, Texas, Barraz Genesis held a memorial golf tournament and fundraiser in honor of our beloved Tia Sylvia Barraz. Our Tia Sylvia continues to inspire our mission of increasing literacy rates in our adjacent communities through her life which was dedicated to teaching and encouraging her students to read as much as possible. She was a mother figure to all who needed maternal love and support, spending many hours lending an ear to the many students who needed her.
In her memory, we raised $14,000 for schools in Hebbronville, Texas, to give back to the spaces Sylvia loved so much. This included providing five uniform shirts, three pairs of jeans, and a pair of new shoes for 40 families and $2,500 worth of scholarships for graduating high school seniors. All remaining funds were allocated to starting our Passport to Reading Program for two K4 classrooms in Hebbronville and Fowler Elementary.
